Recently my husband asked me why I still have not opened an online women’s fashion boutique to complement my store. Apparently it is ‘all the rage’ these days. I have certainly thought about it. I came to the conclusion that building a website for the purpose of selling my goods is similar to launching a whole new company. I would need to basically start from scratch in the marketing department. I would need to pay someone to take professional photos, build the site, and trouble shoot once it is running.
There are certainly up sides to having an online boutique. You can sell on second party sites such as Jane.com or Zullily.com (if you have enough merchandise). It’s the kind of thing I would do if I had a ‘tech savvy’ partner up for working for free until we begin turning a profit. Any volunteers? Until then I will stick to my Facebook and Instagram accounts to promote my brick and mortar women’s fashion boutique.
