Upcoming 2025 Spring Trends for Your Boutique
What! Spring already! With Fall/Winter 2024 wrapping up many brands have already started launching their new Spring line. Let's unravel what it might tell us about some upcoming trends that we should be on the look out for.
Bows
The bow trend has really taken off this fall and winter season, what began as a quiet trend back in the beginning of the year has now been taken on by every major brand and its jetting into Spring 2025 with in an even bigger way.
There has not been too many "new" trends in 2024, in the year of the inflation economy we saw the propensity for shoppers to concentrate on classics and basics versus exploring a new experimental trend. Despite the modest shoppers, many have fallen in love with this trend which can be seen adorned over any top of top, dress or pant.
I believe in 2024 we will see more of the same across many different cuts and styles. With this trend continuing to grow in popularity across fashiongo and other major online showrooms I would think this is a safe bet for any boutique owner to bring in.
Balloon or Bubble Sleeve
Who knew sleeves could drive a trend! The biggest sleeve trend in recent memory was the raglan or color block sleeve. In 2025 the balloon or bubble sleeve will likely drive much of the trends we will see in Spring.
We're seeing this feminine sleeve design show up on every cut including dresses, rompers, tops and more. Bubble sleeves are a women's favorite cut because of the ultra pretty designer combined with its couture look of broadening the shoulders and hiding them.
The balloon sleeve usually cuts off at the elbow but is not exclusive to this length. As you can see in the image below it can extend to 3/4 quarter sleeves.
This sleeve cut goes great with a variety of textures and fabrics including, printed fabrics like florals, solid woven's, cottons, and embroidered designs. It literally goes with everything!
As this sleeve cut increases in popularity it would be best to steer clear of fitted or tight sleeves. I would expect this trend to play well all Spring and Summer season and make a big impact in Fall and Winter.
Florals
The floral print and trend was the most popular trend in Spring 2024 and I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more floral but it won't be quite as strong.
There are roughly three ways the floral trend will be utilized in 2025. Firstly we will see many floral appliques like the one below.
Of course the floral print set on a top or dress is always the most popular form of the trend being used. A original unique floral print is always going to be a crowd pleaser.
But lastly the floral is adorned as embroidery or inset in crochet. This is a classic use of the trend that is seen every year and out of the three I think this will be the weakest.
Stripes
Stripes always did well for me when I ran my boutique and in 2025 I'm predicting the economy will still be in a bit of stagnation and the stripe trend will be a safe bet for stocking your boutique.
Of course not just any stripe will move off the shelves. It will need to incorporate some crochet or jersey materials, have a unique design, and display itself as different versus years past stripes.
I would avoid any stripe print that is too blocky or gives that color block feel, as this trend is well outplayed. However something like the stripe sweater imaged below shows a great example of a cute large stripe that should impress the customers.
There's not much to report on since we are not even into November of 2024 yet but as the styles continue to pour in I will routinely update this blog with the latest trending styles for the upcoming 2025 Spring Season.
